Is Multi-level Marketing for you?

You will have heard (or will undoubtedly hear if you decide to go ahead with a multi-
level marketing business,) stories of people who have been unsuccessful in this
industry.
First, let's put this into perspective. Anyone who starts their own business is
running the risk of 'failing'. Millions of new businesses are started each year and
subsequently fail. Does that mean that people should stop starting new businesses? Of
course not! Risks can however be minimalized.
Success stories show that people do make this industry pay for them. The question is
CAN YOU MAKE IT PAY FOR YOU?
1. Time - although the amount of time you need to spend on your business varies
from business to business, you will need to do something! This means that you need
to do less of something that you are currently doing. You may need to convert some
of your TV time into something productive. Time spent browsing the internet could be
exchanged for spending time on your new business. Are you prepared to make time for
new venture?
2. Commitment - are you prepared to stick with your new business? Despite choosing a
company that you truly believe in and dedicating time for your new business, not
everyone you ask will buy or try your product. Will this crush you or will it make you
more determined? Can you cope with people saying 'no'?
3. Belief - do you believe that you can make it work for you? Do you believe
you have the capability to make a success of your own business? If you are currently lacking
in belief in yourself, are you prepared to change this? Visit our
recommended resources page to
identify literature which can help.
If you can honestly answer YES to these questions, then I would urge you to look at a number of
mlm
companies, until you feel right about the following issues:
Look carefully at the product. Are you a customer? Do you want to remain a customer
month after month? Is the product something that everyone buys or wants? Would you
tell everyone about the product whether you got paid or not?
Consider the distribution method. How do you gather customers or make sales? Are you
prepared to do this? There are various methods; delivering and collecting brochures, party plan,
speaking with referrals, one to one sales. Which one suits you best? Will you need to make deliveries?
Will there be form filling? Will you need to collect money?
Investigate the company. How long have they been trading? What is their track record?
How secure is your
residual income? Has the business model been proven to be
successful?
Consider the cost. How much you are investing in your business? How long will it take
for you to be in profit? Are you prepared to risk this amount of money for the
potential rewards?
Ask questions regarding the team you are joining. Will you have regular access to people who have
made a success of this business? Are they prepared to share their methods with you? Can you duplicate
these methods?
Ultimately, most of these decisions can only be made by you. You need to go with what feels right
for you. If you love your product and the company you represent, you are much more likely to succeed.
Your enthusiasm will attract customers and new team members and therefore the rewards you are looking
for. As your results increase, so will your enthusiasm and you have created a cycle of success.
